2026 Poker Run
August, 22nd

Welcome to the 2026 Poker Run!

This event will take place August 22nd.  It is being organized by the PEI Flying Association (COPA Flight 57) and the Summerside Flying Club (COPA Flight 125).  Any questions, please email info@peiflying.ca .

The game:

• Form a team of one aircraft and 1-8 people.

• Fly to each airport on the route and pick up a playing card (5 total) to make your hand. 

• Turn in your team's hand at the last airport in the route (Summerside - CYSU).

• Enjoy a steak dinner while you wait for the other aircraft to arrive and awards to be announced.

Awards:

There will be three poker awards presented in the following order:

• Best 5-card Stud hand

• Best Texas Hold'em hand (we will use the first (CYYG) and last (CYSU) card you pick up on the poker run)

• Best Omaha hand (we will use the first 4 (CYYG, CYPD, CCQ3, CFH4) cards you pick up on the poker run)

Ties will be settled with each team pulling a random card from the deck with the highest card winning the tie.  Your team may may not win more than one award.  Remember, this is meant to be good random fun.  All hands are "all-in".

Schedule:

09:00  Registration begins at CYYG
10:30  Pilot briefing and snacks at CYYG
11:00  Staggered departure begins
17:00  Awards at CYSU (estimated)

** If this event must be cancelled for any reason, we will send an email to the team captains as well as update this web page.  It is recommended you check this web page before departing for CYYG on August 22nd **

Registration:

Please pre-register using the form below so we know how much food to order.  Some snacks at the pilot briefing and a steak dinner at the awards will be provided.  There will be a fee of $25/aircraft + $30/person to participate.

If you are not part of a team but would like to join us for the awards dinner, please fill out the registration form below and select "Dinner only".  There will be at $25/person fee for dinner only.

Arrival at CYYG:

The Nav Canada folks in the Charlottetown control tower have to create a flight strip and assign a squawk code for each aircraft.  To help them manage the workload, please do one or more of the following:

• File a flight plan into CYYG

• Contact Moncton Center and request flight following into CYYG.

• Make your initial contact with Charlottetown Radio (118.0) when you are at least 15 minutes or more from the control zone.
